here’s a classic of The Zombies being admired by a young fan
As The Zombies train continues to trail blaze through their North American tour, revered media publication The Examiner caught up with Colin Blunstone while the guys were briefly back in New York last week. Read the wonderful article here
And if you’re around the guys are still in USA for a few more days as they roll into Nashville, then Louisville, then St Charles before bringing their electric show back to the UK again in June and July.
Rod has made a statement to give thanks about The Zombie’s legendary release, “On April 19th, 1968 our album ‘Odessey And Oracle’ was released. This album although initially didn’t garner much attention, went on to change our lives dramatically. It has been ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the “Greatest Albums of All Time”, by NME Magazine as the “No. 2 Best Album Recorded at Abbey Road Studios“, and Q Magazine said it was one of “Best British Albums Ever”, but it will always be our first born and we’re very proud of it’s accomplishments. Thank you to everyone who has ever bought, downloaded, listened to, and even shared the album, it’s because of you that the album is still very much alive today. Happy Birthday Odessey And Oracle!!”
For all those in the UK the now yearly extravaganza for all music fans and especially those with a penchant for vinyl come together to celebrate Record Store Day
There might be just a few still left over, but no promises as The Zombies put out a limited run for 2016 to mark the occasion.
Rod has recently made a statement over on The Zombies Facebook page sharing his sadness about the passing of the late, great Keith Emerson, “t’s over a week now since Keith Emerson died, and I must say I’ve been really saddened that the passing of this fantastic musician and monster creative talent hasn’t been marked in a greater and more unequivocal way by the press and broadcasting media. I may have missed something, but I didn’t catch ANYTHING at all on the BBC ….. quite incredible.
And the meanness and short-sightedness of the people, without any ability of their own, who latterly criticised his continuing to play, without any sympathy or understanding of the difficulties he suffered from muscular and nerve problems in his right hand and arm….it truly is depressing.
Keith was a true musician in every sense of the word; a great keyboardist whose playing was always full of fire and invention. He never dumbed down the high content of what he did, yet still managed to connect and communicate with many millions of people – a remarkable achievement. When I heard, not so long ago, from a couple of different people that Keith liked my playing, it felt like one of the most rewarding compliments I’d ever been paid. He was truly one of the few.”
